This book, printed early in the Second World War, was intended for the use of chaplains and laymen in the Army or Navy who led Christian or Jewish religious services. It's in very good condition with normal wear and abrasions along the edges and spine. All 193 pages are present. The front cover does have an embossed title but it's very hard to see since the black ink and the thick, dark-red cover are so close on the spectrum. Under a strong light, you'll be able to make it out. There is a Protestant, Catholic and Jewish section. Additionally, there are a number of familiar hymns.

I imagine this was of tremendous comfort, particularly during the dark days of 1942 when it seemed the Axis powers were unstoppable.
