This entirely original artifact is a reunion medal worn by an attendee at the great National Encampment of 1890 in Boston. The GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) sent thousands and thousands to this event in August of that year. The ribbon is not frayed or moth-eaten at all, like so many you see today. The attachment device remains intact and the bar across the top has a wonderful, attic patina. There is one minor stain on it but it really doesn't detract. The drop is almost perfect with just a bit of wear. This one was worn, loved and put away for safe keeping for over a hundred years. Just imagine the stories these old fellows told at that grand encampment!
