This beautiful button was metal-detected on private property at Appomattox Court House, near Cumberland Church. It has gorgeous, bright gilt in all the right places for definition. Where there is no gilt, there is a smooth, deep-brown patina. The button has a straight, solid shank and a war-time backmark of Horstmann & Allien, NY.

The button is coat size 21/22 mm and has no pushes, pinholes, cracks or repairs. Finding superb, dug federal letter buttons in this kind of condition is getting more difficult all the time. They're not rare, but I know many collectors who are buying them in quantity and just putting them away. I remember when you could buy this button for about ten bucks!

Button can be shipped with Priority Box or in a first class padded mailer for a lot cheaper.
