Here's a great find for the collector of Boston-related items or for those interested in Civil War and later militia companies...

In excellent condition, this general order for the Independent Boston Fusiliers is dated 1873. Many militias disbanded a few years after the Civil War, but some remained active through the Spanish American War. This particular company was, during the Late Unpleasantness, part of the 1st Massachusetts Volunteers. They participated in most of the battles of the Army of the Potomac. In fact, the 1st Mass and this militia (company G, I believe) were among the very first casualties of the war. At least 10 men from Company G were killed in action at Blackburn's Ford in 1861.

In the Civil War paper category, I have a wardated General order from this same unit. That one, and this, would make a wonderful display to frame.

Thanks!
