Large Portion of Raking Spur
Item #: JMS-745
Raking spurs are ten times scarcer than regular spurs. This one, though partial, is still priced well below what other dealers are asking...even for partial specimens like this! I see one priced at $125 and another at $145. Then there's a really nice complete one with an alleged Gettysburg association that's $550. All of them are wonderful relics offered by terrific dealers.
That said, I can afford to let this one go for $95.00 because it came in a large collection with which I know I will at least break even. So here's a chance to get a dug relic you seldom see. It's in very nice condition. Sure, I wish it was complete but as they say -- "It is what it is."
The verbal history with this piece is that it was dug along the Chambersburg Road in Gettysburg...on private property just west of McPherson's Ridge. I don't know if that's true, because I wasn't there when it was dug. I have a letter from the previous owner -- a Gettysburg dealer -- making this claim. I'll certainly send it along and let you decide. But you know what? It's an absolutely authentic Civil War raking spur, probably Confederate, and it still has the rowel. I've priced it such that it doesn't really matter where it was dug...but I wanted you to have what little provenance there is.

Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always. I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly. Again, my email address is cwartifax@gmail.com
Thanks!
