Fantastic 1880's-era image of a soldier ID'd on the back of the card as Fred Ridgeway. The writing on the back appears to be period but we are selling the image for what it is -- not WHO it is. This is a gorgeous and crisp photo of a soldier wearing the 1881 Mills belt and US buckle. The bayonet appears to be a trapdoor, but I can't be 100% sure. It's definitely a socket bayonet so this fellow was clearly of the Indian War period. Cardstock is marked "J.W. Baker, 1028 Market St. S.F." -- which is San Francisco. The card is in outstanding condition with no creases, bends, repairs or even stains. The top right corner is just the tiniest bit "weak" and the bottom left is minutely worn. Still an "A" or "A+" image and a perfect compliment to your display of Indian War accoutrements. Frame this up with one of those cool, "H-shaped" Mills belt plates and you're in business!
