This hard enamel pin is on the original cardstock it first came with in 1917. These pins were first popularized during "The Great War" and the tradition has carried on until today. (I have a World War Two "son in service" pin for sale also. Please check the WW 2 category!

This pin measures 5/16" tall and 9/16" long.  It has a hinged pin bar and "c" clasp. All are in tip-top condition, considering it is nearly 100 years old. The card stock is a bit worse for wear with some damage in the upper left corner and some creasing. But let's be honest. How often do you encounter one of these mother's or sweetheart pins on the original card? I wish I knew the story of this one. Was it purchased by someone who could not bear to wear it for the memories it might evoke? In any case, it is a reminder that while our men and women in uniform are heroes...their mothers, fathers, children and sweethearts are heroes, too. What a burden they bear!

This is a fantastic little reminder of what sadly did not turn out to be "The War to End all Wars". I think it's bargain priced, considering the fact that the centennial will soon be upon us.
