This one's a doozey.  I acquired this button in a grouping of relics recovered in the Richmond area over the last 30 years...and this is one of the main reasons I went after the group.

Vermont buttons are getting scarce and when you do find a dug one, about 80% of the time, there is a push in the face.  It's often a mild push or a large, but even push.  But you seldom encounter a Vermont that is not pushed.  I've no idea why this is the case.  I realize other buttons are found pushed, too.  But it seems particularly hard to find a Vermont that is not.

Here is one, however, that has no push.  And no pinholes, cracks, or repairs.  This button retains its shank and the shank is perfectly straight.  The (rmdc) backmark is :"Scovill" and it can be read -- but because the patina on the back is dark and even, I needed a light and a good loupe.  If there is any flaw with this button, and it's a minor one, it's that the back of the button was probably exposed to some fertilizer while in the soil.  Those light colored dots have a whitish, almost blue tint.  They are minimal and almost not worth mentioning.

I would conservatively estimate this button retains 70% of its original gilt, probably more. This is one I would not hesitate to put in my own collection...with no expectation of being able to upgrade for many years.

IF YOU WANT TO ORDER AN ITEM…

(or just ask a question about it) please email me directly at cwartifax@gmail.com

Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always.  I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly.  Again, my email address is cwartifax@gmail.com

Thanks!
