This outstanding button has 100% bright gilt and really no flaws at all, except the usual signs of wear or age on the back.  The shank is tilted maybe one degree at most -- hardly worth mentioning.  The backmark is a correct Civil War mark, "Scovill" between two rings of dots.

 

The back might benefit from a judicious cleaning, but my tendency is usually just to leave items as they are. 

 

This might be a good button to get along with the two, non-dug Wisconsin cuffs I have for sale -- at a bargain basement price.
