You know, when I bought this back in 2008, I was told it was a common note.  Perhaps that's true, but after searching the web sites of both Civil War and currency dealers, I found only one example.  It must be that they just haven't any in stock at present because at this price, this note can't actually be considered "scarce".

Still, it is encountered far less often than its similar 1864 counterpart.  The 1863 note has a quite similar front but a much different back.  Check the scans up close and see what I mean.  (You currency guys are probably rolling your eyes, saying, "Everyone knows that!"  But really, many of my buyers for Confederate and other obsolete notes are primarily into relics or buttons or guns, etc.  They might not realize this.  I know I didn't!)

Anyway -- this is just a good, serviceable note that appears to be a littler tougher to find than some others.

It grades in just F condition and has the usual folds and poor cut you would associate with a FINE note.  I'd love to offer you an UNC version of this bill, but that would be far more expensive.

IF YOU WANT TO ORDER AN ITEM…

(or just ask a question about it) please email me directly at cwartifax@gmail.com

Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always.  I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly.  Again, my email address is cwartifax@gmail.com

Thanks!
