A very popular and slightly less common bullet, this .69 caliber variety was used by both U.S. and C.S. forces through most of the war.  The example you see here was recovered legally (on private property, with permission) on the Shiloh Battlefield.  A lot of the French bullets are recovered at sites in Tennessee, Mississippi and Louisiana.  But they have also been dug in the eastern theater.
