This is a no-flaw dug button.  No cracks, pinholes, pushes or repairs.  The shank is perfectly straight and the backmark is clear, crisp and definitely "Civil War".  The button even retains about 10-15% of its original gilt.  On the rare chance that you will come across a minty-dug Wisconsin with loads of gilt, you'll pay almost double the price you see below.  And those are very seldom offered for sale.

This one is an excellent, above-average example.  It was metal-detected on private property, with permission, in a Wisconsin camp near Shiloh.
