Nice, two-page letter (front and back) in period blue ink and dated July 24th, 1864 from Knight’s Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Condition is VG with no tears, holes or repairs. There are a couple of period ink stains but the content is still legible. Typical misspelling as is common with Civil War letters. Clearly signed, C.H. Morrill.

Charles Morrill is writing to his brother and discussing the possibility of his returning to the regiment or being moved to another hospital. Content is good, newsy and interesting but nothing terribly noteworthy...except that Morrill says, "My wound is quite painful this morning. It will feel better after it has a chance to rest."

Morrill enlisted in the 10th New Hampshire at the age of 24 in August of 1862. He was wounded in action June 3rd, 1864 at the battle of Cold Harbor. He was discharged from service at the end of May, 1865.
