This handsome button was recovered in a Confederate camp in Varina, Virginia. It was found on private property. These earlier ordnance corps buttons are sometimes found in CS camps so it might have been "rebel-tested".
The button has a rich, dark patina, a very tiny chip out of the rim (which I have pictured) and a tilted shank. The backmark is partially legible and is the usual "Ordnance Corps" imprint.
You're getting a really nice button here for a very reasonable price!
