This button, dating to the 1880's, is an Ohio State Seal. For all practical purposes, Ohio did not have a state seal button during the Civil War. (There is the famed OH1 but only a handful exist.)

Collecting Indian War era buttons is becoming increasingly popular as Civil War and earlier button prices climb. This would be a logical purchase if you were assembling such a collection. M.C. Lilley's three-piece button is, in my opinion, more attractive than some of the other two-piece Ohio buttons of the same general era.
