With gilt in all the right places for definition, this coat-size Virginia button has a super-solid look to it. There's a perfectly straight shank and a legible (wartime) "Horstmann with Rays" backmark. There are no pushes, cracks, pinholes or repairs with this lovely Confederate button.

It was excavated on private property, with permission, near the Cold Harbor, Virginia battlefield. What stories this button could tell if it could talk!
