The 1914 National Encampment in Detroit, Michigan was held on September 3rd and 4th of that year. It was the first year of the "Great War" in Europe and I have to wonder what the old Yanks thought about those proceedings. The conversations would have been fascinating! Of course, their own remembrances of the Civil War would have been even more thrilling to eavesdrop on.

The condition of this medal is just about perfect. I particularly like the stamping of a boat crossing the Detroit River. I've seen examples of this medal in mediocre condition and without the original card priced at $65.00. I got a very good deal on this little beauty and am pleased to pass it along to you.
