Saw this and had to have it! I love the mellow brass patina and ever-so-slight wear to the high-points. This one was worn, almost certainly during the war. The backmark is correct for the Civil War. The shank is straight. And there is absolutely no damage whatsoever. Please excuse the blurriness of the back-side photo. My iPhone camera is not playing nice with me these days and I may have to switch back to a conventional one.

The NY button displays so handsomely because of it's bold shield and "Excelsior" motto. Nice piece to display with a NY soldier CDV or an SNY buckle!
