Made in the style of the M. 1855 worm, this particular example is for a .69 caliber bore. It is original and not a reproduction. There is some minor rusting or grime on this little tool, but that could be easily cleaned.

These worked rather simply. A wad of some cleaning material could be attached to the business end of this little device. The other end attached to the ram rod. And you had an instant cleaning mechanism for your musket bore. This also functioned as a bullet worm or "wormer". If a bullet became lodged in the barrel, this would help remove it. I have even seen these dug with bullets attached.
