If you're looking for a little object to offset an attractive display of miscellaneous Civil War relics, I think this little gem can't be beat. It's a musket hammer (I think from a M. 1861) that was dug in Falmouth, Virginia. Falmouth is just across the river from Fredericksburg and is where the Union Army camped for much of the war.

The condition is, as you see, rusty. But that's how dug iron relics are supposed to look. The iron is stable and there is little to no flaking. If you like, you could use electrolysis and clean this one up. Myself? I love the "just-dug" look.
