Likely a Confederate bullet, you can barely see the three rings on this example. Many of the more crudely cast .54 caliber rounds look like this though they don't appear to be "salvaged" lead. The closest comparison in the Thomas & Thomas handbook is T & T 138D.

The bullet is dropped, in good condition and has a conical cavity with a small air-bubble hole right at the top of the cavity.

It was dug up in Spring Hill, Tennessee with the permission of the property owner. It was at a crossroads in Spring Hill that federal forces repulsed a Confederate attack on November 29th of 1864. The next day, General John Bell Hood's men would engage Union forces at the battle of Franklin.
