Interesting little relics here. I suppose these could be balls from a buck & ball cartridge, but I thought the buck was about .31 caliber. These measure almost a perfect .38 and there is what looks like a mold seam on one of the balls. I suspect these were individually molded for boot pistols. In any regard, not the usual fare found when perusing the web for bullets and cartridges.

 

These were both found near the Monocacy battlefield in Maryland. The digger had permission to metal-detect from the private property owner.
