Another absolutely original Civil War patriotic in very nice condition. No tears, the usual age toning, and evidence of mounting. The author of The Catalog of Union Civil War Patriotic Covers clearly states that mounting residue is not considered detrimental to value. In fact, in my own opinion, it kind of adds something. It speaks to the fervor with which people -- children and adults -- collected these during and after the war. These were, in a sense, the baseball cards of the period.

 

Please bear in mind that if you're comfortable with USPS First Class shipping, I can ship covers to you for about a dollar. And I always send them protected by rigid cardboard and/or a rigid plastic holder.
