I'm selling this from my collection. It's the two-piece SC-7 (Albert) or SC236 (Tice). Much of the backmark is gone but the outer circle of lines or rays (sometimes called a "rope") is quite evident. This indicates it was an early Scovill product, possibly made as far back as 1830. The button has a very mild push that is harder to see than to feel. The shank is intact and bent, though not flat against the back. There are no cracks, pinholes or repairs to this button. It's one of the slightly less common South Carolina buttons and, in this kind of heavily-gilted, dug condition, is much sought-after.
The button was dug on James Island, near where the battle of Secessionville took place. It was found with the kind permission of the owner of a privately-held tract of land.

(or just ask a question about it) please email me directly at cwartifax@gmail.com
Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always. I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly. Again, my email address is cwartifax@gmail.com
Thanks!
