This Civil War button has TONS of gilt and a nice, straight shank. It's a Rhode Island state seal button in coat/overcoat size. There is an even push to the face that you cannot see in the picture. You also can't see it when displayed. You more or less have to touch it or see the button in profile. A perfect Rhode island is going to run between $125 and $150. This one, on a letter grade scale, is a B- in my opinion. If you buy it and don't agree, send it back for a full refund and I will pay shipping BOTH ways. Backmark is not legible but this is almost certainly a pre-war or wartime product of D. Evans.

The button was dug on private property, with permission, in Winchester, Virginia. I am not sure how many Rhode Island units went through Winchester but surely more than a couple. Winchester changed hands between Union and Confederate forces at least 70 times during the Civil War! What stories this relic could tell if it could talk!

IF YOU WANT TO ORDER AN ITEM…

(or just ask a question about it) please email me directly at cwartifax@gmail.com

Using the “Order Information” button right below the price USUALLY works, but not always.  I don’t know why, but it could have to do with spam settings on either end. The easiest way to order or inquire about an item is simply to email me directly.  Again, my email address is cwartifax@gmail.com

Thanks!
